      Hey Peridols!

This little section is just designed to give you a bit of background about the Peridot Beauty training and who runs it and that’s me, Donna Oldfield-Sterry!

Firstly, thank you so much for having a look at my page, out of all the websites you could have picked to begin your fab new career, you chose mine- and I'm made up that you did!

So, you’re looking for a glam career in beauty and you've landed here, why pick me to train you? To be honest, I’ve been in industry for (well) over a decade now, first training in 2006 for my NVQ Level 2 and went back to college again in 2009/10 refresh and to gain my NVQ Level 3 .

Later to study my Level 4.

Beauty is 1001% my passion and I began my career working for small, family run establishments and since then I progressed to larger projects.

I’ve pretty much done most things in industry and I've worked as a salon/spa therapist, beauty counter girl, lash artist, skincare specialist, college tutor to skincare business manager and Spa manager!

I also have a clinical background, having been a part time phlebotomist in the NHS for around 9 years both during my beauty training and beyond. This put me in great stead for aesthetic treatments and cosmetology treatments.

So I can give you plenty of advice as to where you can take your career!

In 2015 I qualified as an assessor in Beauty Therapy and it was at this point, I realised that teaching was what I ultimately wanted to do! I decided to then gain my Award in Education and Training too. Then moving on to study my Level 5 foundation degree in teaching

In 2018, I finally bit the bullet and decided to go self employed as a freelance trainer, whilst opening my own beauty room. And in 2019, with the amazing support of my husband and our family and friends, I decided to become accredited and run my own training academy as I’m obsessed with delivering and maintaining high standards within the Industry.

Over the years I have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of pounds to keep up to date knowledge and training and as a therapist myself, I am constantly researching my existing treatments, ensuring that I am on top of the latest developments and looking to further my own career by learning new treatments and procedures in our ever changing fast-paced world of Beauty/Aesthetics.

For this reason, I want you to be fully aware that I only teach treatments that I am completely experienced and knowledgeable in, so you can rest assured that you will be getting the best and most up to date education possible. Although I completely understand that we live in a world where things such as qualifications are wanted and needed almost instantly, I've made it my goal to make sure that my students would get all the knowledge and continuing support network that they would gain from a traditional college.

That being said, my gorge little private college is far from traditional or boring, and I'm sure you will love being there as much as I do.

I really enjoy meeting lots of new people and, although I'm a real chatter box (as I think you may have guessed) I'm also very patient and I want you to feel as comfortable as possible when training! All I ask for in return is that you have a passion to learn and that you are kind and friendly towards your fellow students and myself. How you choose to conduct yourself in this industry is everything, and being nice puts you leaps and bounds ahead.

Please understand that I’ve totally been in your position before, I know how daunting learning new skills can be! So just remember, no question is a silly question and you will have my ongoing support with whichever course you decide to choose.

At Peridot, we aim to create a safe space and we are allies to LGBTQ+. Our courses and treatments are gender neutral so whether you are cis, trans, non-binary you are welcome and safe here with us x

Anyway, enough about me and my training- lets get you on the path to success and have a good giggle while we do it!

WHY
THE NAME
Untitled design (29).png
Peridot?

I decided on the name Peridot as not only it is my

stunningly beautiful birth stone, but it is also a very special stone in

symbolism and meaning. It is a beautiful green colour with a yellow hue- the name of the

crystal comes from this yellow colour – the name “Peridot” is derived from the

French “Peritot”, meaning “gold” (actually my favourite colour!!). Peridot is the National gem of Egypt. Ancient Egyptians knew it as “the gem of the sun.” It

actually turns out that many of the ‘Emeralds’ that Queen Cleopatra wore, were

in fact Peridots. As the ancient Egyptians and Cleo herself are the founders of

many beauty treatments, I thought this was very befitting. This special little

gem is said to build the confidence and self esteem of those who own it and

dispel negative thoughts and energy that they hold about themselves, it is also

thought to help alleviate night terrors. The stone is is said to: “help

a person follow his or her passion; to be true to your own heart and desires.

It is a stone that will help you move forward and release the past. If you

desire to move forward, you must let go of all negativity of the past. This is

the stone to wear to improve your chances of making your dreams a reality. It

increases your willpower and makes you more aware of what you think about. As

we all know our thoughts create our actions. It helps you take responsibility for your own life."

How perfect for a brand new start

in your career?!
